advice please?

ok i'm in love with this guy but i'm scared. i'm scared of falling in love because if something bad happens it would be very difficult to get over him. he lives 3 hours away from me. and it hurts me cause I don't want to lose him because i'm scared of comittment (I think I spelt that write) and I love him alot. he is my baby. please give me some advice.
